Membership

As with all BSAC clubs, SSAC does not run for profit. All of our members are volunteers in the roles they choose to undertake, be that instructing, skippering the boat, or running the bar. All of this helps to keep costs reasonable, opening diving to as many people as possible.

If you would like to get to know us before joining the club, you are welcome to visit on a Wednesday night to chat all things diving, perhaps over a pint or two!

Membership comprises of two parts -  the BSAC subscription and the club's own membership fee.

BSAC subscription currently costs are £71 for adults or £39 for under 18s, and pays for:

  • BSAC third party liablity insurance, with coverage up to £10,000,000

  • Monthly SCUBA magazine delivered to your door

  • Development of BSAC training courses

  • Discounts on dive gear, trips abroad, and travel insurance

The club fee is currently set at £150, and covers:

  • Maintaining and fuelling our hard boat, Richard S, greatly subsidising the cost of local diving

  • Maintaining the club compressor and gas banks, allowing for free air fills and cheap nitrox

  • Running the clubhouse and Bar

Annual Total  = £221

We have reduced membership rates for snorkelers (£40), and social members (£5).

BSAC also has a range of membership options, see them here
